What is Freedom? - An Independence Day Poem

Freedom

Freedom-What does it mean now to man,
When we fulfill the Lord’s greater plan?

We fight our rival's and then decide

To proudly honor all those who've died-

Friend’s who suddenly turned into foe,

Some not knowing which side they're to go-

Soldiers fighting o’er battle lines

Police put a stop evil crimes;

Troops wait to see what each day shall bring;

Freedom-It’s an interesting thing.

Some had it taken from their close grasp,
Others held strongly to freedom’s clasp.

Wives care for children while all alone
Waiting for their soldiers to come home.

Some say “Set one ruler for them all!”

Some say government shouldn’t stand tall.

When is it okay to be the lead?

When will we see that Christ’s our great need?

Our liberty’s now being taken-

Our bright path to God, is now shaken-

Fighting for our land-this brave kingdom-

And all this-In the name of freedom.

And then there’s other’s who just don’t see

They should cry to God on bended knee.

Evil‘s stalking as thieves in the night-

Freedom-Let’s go and finish the fight.

In Honor of Veterans Day

Here is a poem that I wrote the second of July in honor of Fourth of July. I thought it was appropriate to post it, in honor of Veterans Day. It's so easy to forget the soldiers here in America, where everything comes so easy to us. There are people trying to keep that freedom. It's a good example of what Christ did for us by dying on the cross to save us, his children, and give us freedom in Christ. Praise God for all he has done! Let's remember our soldiers and take some time to thank God for them today.

May freedom continue in in our land!

America's Defenders

Here in our comfort zone, happy we stand,

Shopping and working, lending a hand,

But something we know and some try to forget-

Is that the solders are fighting no looks back, no regret.

Training as warriors, so mighty they’ll be

Solders are working, for they bravely see

The future of liberty with God’s guiding hand

As they seek to defend our dear country and land.

This is the land that more than once stood-

Anxious of shackles creeping up over good.

But the combatants have stood, and now they again

Remember the past- and where others have been.

It is they who remember, and they who can tell

It’s for freedom they’re fighting, and so they fight well.

God bless our bold solders who for our name

Call freedom to America, so liberty shall reign.

Down on their knees solders fighting their foe;

Trudging through mud, and marching through snow.

Loyal they defend for all to the death,

Lives thrown down for you to the very last breath.

Lifting their eyes to the gun’s stealthy aim

If they-taken down, it is our country’s gain.

For once again, a great hero is now gone

But forever will remain, this solders valiant song.

The Solder's Mother

Oh my son I've raised you strong in God's laws not of mans.
I've taught you to listen for His call and not our own small plans.

God's chosen you to be a solder-my son it's what you'll be;
But as you go to fight on hard, come to be at last with me.

The hardships that you are facing, and the terror that wars hold
Tough as they are, remember love, in Christ you can be bold.

I have prayed for you today-the burden that I share
I shall thank God for you my son, that for your country trials you bear.

I have struggled as you've gone so far towards the battle lines.
Please continue to trust that God knows best when there's hard times.

Down on bended knees I've called for His will above the lies,
And I know that God does hear his desperate daughter's cries.

If you are in his will dear one, than no matter what conspires
His hand will be upon your own, guiding you throughout trial, and fires.

As you've fought hard through smoke and fear, across a foreign land
Someones bullet took you down, and now Christ shall take your hand.

The price of freedom has been paid from sea to shining sea,
Someday across the gates I'll come- and you, at last, to me.

To Honor Our Solders on Memorial Day:

The American Hero
by Roger Robicheau
The American Hero always comes through To capture our hearts with a spirit so true

Some proudly are soldiers who march in harm’s way Insuring our freedom, courageous they stay

While others come forth as civilians so brave Determined in purpose, so steadfast to save

We should always keep clear a place in our heart For each has a value beyond precious art

Their duty to country will not be surpassed Please honor their courage, for some it’s their last

We live in a world which can be hard to bear Thank God for these people, how greatly they care

Do ponder new heroes and what they will face And pray for their safety no matter their place

Our heritage brings out the best, we all know Our great book of heroes is destined to grow
